Hello everyone! On this page you can find some background on the unit I serve in, as well as a link to a donation page. Thank you!
We are a platoon of infantry soldiers, training to join the Palhan (Combat Engineering Company – CEC), one of three elite reconnaissance units of The Nahal Infantry Brigade.
The Nahal Brigade was established in 1982, as the need for more infantrymen increased during the Lebanon War. Since then the Brigade operates on a regular basis to secure the safety of all Israeli civilians. The Brigade has three regular combat Battalions (Shaham, Granite, Basalt) as well as a Reconnaissance Battalion, the Brigade’s spearhead, comprised of three units: the reconnaissance, the combat engineering, and the anti-tank companies.
Since its establishment the Brigade served in Southern Lebanon and in the Gaza Strip, and received accolades from the IDF and the public at large for the number and quality of its combat missions.
The Palhan (CEC) was established in 1992 as a professional infantry company, focused on explosives, demining fields, combat engineering. Since its establishment the Palhan has seen action in The West Bank, Gaza, and Lebanon. The Palhan is an advanced, elite unit, and today it is charged with a variety of tasks all along Israel’s borders and conflict areas. Among the Palhan’s operations was the demolition of the infamous Beaufort stronghold in Southern Lebanon in May, 2000.
The Palhan requires long and difficult training, including close quarters combat, advanced urban combat, fortified zones/boulders combat, “war week”, and many long weeks of orienteering including night time solo orienteering. Additionally, the recruits undergo specific combat engineering training.
As new recruits, we are now at the beginning of a very long and difficult journey. We are expected to achieve the highest standards of an infantry soldier, physically and mentally. We are proud to be part of the IDF combat units in general, and especially the spearhead of the Nahal Brigade in particular.
To achieve that, we will need your help and support, including financial support. Modest contributions will help us improve our fighting capabilities, upgrade our gear, and improve morale. Right now we need a variety of personal gear (not provided by the IDF), such as warm winter fleeces for the freezing desert nights, hiking boots, headlamps, water packs, Leatherman multi-tools, and other equipment to improve the capabilities and ease the life of an infantryman.
We thank you and are very grateful for any help and financial contribution, large or small.
November 2013 recruits of Palhan Nahal.
